E! They are a number of downsides to the mutual funds. But I'm not smart enough keep up on all the little companies I would need to track... some of the mutual fund managers are superb on the upside (garrret Van Waggoner, for example), but I have to exit all holdings in a bear market -- I have no VanWaggoner funds at the moment, even though I had VWEGX, VWMCX, VWMDX, VWPVX, and VWTKX in several accounts on the way up.... Similar for TIFQX TVFQX. hope you get your wish and create enormous wealth in metals -- to be invested just in time to catch the tech recovery with cash in hand .. tso
