Sony Says Consumers Forgot Memory Stick
[ March 16, 2001 ]

Sony Corp. said on Friday its Memory Stick, a tiny data storehouse for
portable devices such as digital cameras and the center of a key product
strategy, will miss sales targets for this business year as the economy slows.
The consumer-electronics powerhouse said it expects to ship only 7 million of
the chewing-gum-sized devices in the year to March 31, below a target of 10
million announced last October. “The economy is bad and that's caused it to
fall a bit short, and we've introduced a higher-capacity 64 megabyte version
so some customers may be buying one of those instead of buying two smaller
ones,” a spokesman said. The Memory Stick, brought to market in autumn
1998, allows users to transfer images or sound back and forth between their
PCs and portable devices such as digital audio players and video cameras.

Beth, I hope that you are right.

It doesn't take a genius to know that you never leave men or material in the field that can be retrieved. Diplomatic solutions be damned, it's a miltary situation and in that context, you don't negotiate, you just "retrive" them.

I haven't checked his war record but, based on his public response, GWB obviously never fell out of the sky and fell into enemy hands.
