But the "party" is composed of individuals. And individuals vary. There are bound to be at least a few who wouldn't consider someone who was, for example, an atheist and who would apply a litmus test. You assume that the "party" members understand what is inimical (in your opinion) to the party. Like religion, people will define the "party" any way they want. They may even define it in ways that are inimical to the way you define it. That is the nature of large groups.
