Wait until they can't run their air conditioners during the Bermuda High.-g-

Edit: What am I saying? What would I do without air conditioning during the Bermuda High? Yikes. Not even a fan.

Les-

When I lived in small town in Central IL we rented a house two blocks from a the municipal gas/coal fired elec power plant. I could see it from the backyard through the trees. I kept an open mind about it when we first viewed the house. Checked the safety record before we signed the lease. Overall it was a well run operation.

Then the summer of tornadoes came. We were sent to the basement four times. The last time, a cyclone cloud passed over the neighborhood. Lawn furniture, planters, etc...sucked-up gone to ??? Also all the water from the cooling towers disappeared skyward. The plant came within minutes of an explosion. Emergency shut down saved our asses. Plant operators admitted the next day how close they came to kerblooy.

Between the town tornado siren and the alarm claxon coming from the plant we couldn't determine the greater hazard: blown away by the tornado or to bits from the explosion.

I will never live near an electric power plant again. No NIMBY.

But, you're more than welcome to have one in yours.
