256mb does have that "right ring" to it, doesn't it? Funny how quickly 128, which sounded like such overkill not long ago, now sounds inadequate.

I may just spring for 512mb based on what Nemer just posted. Hearing that more has always increased his performance is the nudge I needed. I'd stay at 256mb for my trading purposes, but I think my wife will benefit from more, running Adobe photoshop and In Design graphics programs in an intensive manner. She produces a commercial mail order catalogue, and would like the option to do work at home.

It's only another $100 for 256 more of micron 2100 DDR, but you can say that about every component that goes into a new system. There's lots of components and it does add up.

Re windowsXP, it will be a big learning curve for me I'm sure. I think the thread will keep me on the cutting edge however. (:-)
