Steve, it's called a Trojan horse, and I think the Chinese are smart enough to figure that one out.

Now would be a great time to send a special diplomatic mission to Taiwan with great fanfare to formally recognize Taiwan as an independent state....and let it be known behind closed doors that such a mission would be recalled if the crew members and plane are in the air and flying home.

A well placed cruise missile at the next Central Committee meeting would be better.

Steve, I never said that Gore was a God. What I said in the past was that I was prepared to vote for Satan but then the Republican party gave Satan the boot and put GWB in his place. As much as I had wished for a choice among angels, given the extremely limited choices, I couldn't vote.

IMHO, the U.S. is acting without a clue as to the Asian way of thinking. It is hard to describe but, in relative terms, Americans think in minutes and Asian thought processes can take decades or even centuries. If you understand this, you gain a respect for Asians and also the understanding that immediate action is a virtual requirement when dealing with China.

Within minutes of knowing that he had a plane down, GWB should have launched a C5A for recovery of men and material and 100 U.S. fighters for cover. He should have called the mission "search and rescue", then picked up the pieces and shipped them home the same day. The fact that he didn't do this indicates a disconnection between GWB, Powell and his other advisors.

If the cart is trade and the horse is men and material, as a Patriot I would choose to put the horse before the cart.

Craig

PS It may be short-lived but we finally had a good day for semis :-) !!!
