>> With our collective minds we aught to be able to come up with fine portfolio. <<

Once the SOX hits 400 or less I'll start to make my portfolio.

Actually LU looks very interesting as a long term hold if it avoids BK which I think it will. Bought some today, but then sold when the Nasdaq made new lows.

Right now I'm leaning towards

AMAT under 30
LSI once the SOX hits 400 or less.
INTC at 18 or less
LU at 6 1/2 or less

Not sure about the 5th. But this is just the way I'm leaning. Doesn't mean much till I pull the trigger.

pls418,

A good idea. Should we have a contest like we did last year on SISD? And then create a mutual fund out of the weightings of all our choices? These aren't my "official" entries, but I'd like to see two types of portfolios, one with heavyweight gorillas, and one with potential hi-fliers.

Gorilla port:
ORCL
KLAC
JDSU
EMC
SUNW

Flyer port:
SEBL
VRSN
NUFO
PHTN
NTAP

I'm in. Deadline for large cap entries Saturday midnight, Pacific time? Two sections of 5 stocks each. One large caps, one non-large caps. The favorites of all entries constitute the portfolio. $10,000 in each portfolio based on closing prices this friday, 2k each stock. Not a contest but rather a tracking index of our best current guess on which stocks have the best upside from here.

Will pls418 tabulate all of the entries to find the most commonly picked large caps?

I suggest we all suggest our favorite non-large caps by this Saturday and then vote on them for the 5 to be included next Saturday since these are not stocks we are all familiar with and it may take some analysis. We do that, don't we?

Can Kodiak take the time and is it possible to include our picks to come up with the thread?

If we want we can all keep track individually of our personal picks and the # of the post we sent them in on, and then get bragging rights if we outperformed the thread index. I intend to post daily on how you should have listened to me if my picks do well. I am already working on excuses in the event it turns out that mine don't do well. gg. Ed
