Unfortunately they lost a major customer.

That's a strange way to refer to Alcatel - "a major customer". Not the kind of customer I want - there for their good times and cleared orf for the bad.

I think whoever they ran to can keep them.

Neil.

re:Unfortunately they lost a major customer.
1) given a choice between having alcatel as a customer and 300 mil I'd take 300 mil. So amd's decision is right, IMHO
2) alcatel went for the terms of the agreement because they wanted cheap flash. Unfortunately for alcatel there is no such thing as free lunch. If alcatel would use that in their future decisions against amd then they are not professionals and amd is better off without alcatel.

hey do I have a deal for you. Lets write a contract stating that I would sell you puts (short position) and and those puts would be exercisable at my discretion. :-)) And if you would not like the outcome you can reserve the right not to buy any more of those contracts in the future.

That is the position that you are trying to defend
