No argument here on the wisdom in waiting for an uptrend to begin.

I love this kind of sentiment. If investing was this easy, everybody would be rich. The one thing that can be said about the market: it never repeats itself. If it did, then all you would have to do get seriously rich is wait for the uptrend to begin at the same relative time as it did the last time. The problem is, there is no last time. The system is self-correcting, if it were predictable, it would become unpredictable because the predictions would immediately be acted upon.

Those who think there is a pattern here are in for a big surprise. Those who luckily pick the bottom, looking back, will be around here for years telling us how clever they are, and advising us on what to do the next time. But there will be no next time.
