I agree with you that many of these stores probably make next to nothing on the CPUs, but I still think using it (minus 10-20%) is a good measure, since most processors are sold to OEMs, who presumably get a much better deal.

I think I often used the average of the lowest entries. But yes, the whole exercise was interesting for a time but not enough to try and refine it to match actual reported EPS. FWIW, the wholesale distributor I use has CPU prices which are usually slightly lower than the lowest PW (well, at least for T-Birds and Durons, I don't watch the others :-).
