Most other big cap nasdaq stocks were down 2-3 points today, are you sure microsoft's move was entirely due to the xbox rumor?

Who was right, the "market" or the guy who sold short Inktomi at 200 per share? Now the stock is at 2. Was the giant hive mind collective intelligence of "the market" right when the stock was at 200?

No. As you surely know, the market is not right or wrong. It merely "is".. Over time, it tends to reflect reality. The person shorting INKT at 200 was "right" because the stock was indeed overvalued.
