<<The standoff with China over a downed reconnaissance plane showed signs of easing Thursday. China's ambassador called at the State Department and the White House said ``we have reached a diplomatic point where matters are heavily engaged.''>>

China situation, my take.. I think that 'regret' statement is a result of 'back door channel diplomacy' and a done deal, plane will not oocme back atleast soon, naval force and soldiers will in a week's time. Plane snactity will be violated gg and will eventually be copied and that will certainly lead to cancellation of Bush trip or postponement. For epsionage deal and advantage, Chinese will tear the plane apart that is their interest even if that leads to heightened tensions on China WTO, and trade. I think defense spendings after China situation goes up. . Raytheon will be up by $ tomorrow..
