I believe the show by the mainland Chinese leadership is for the benefit of (1) mainland Chinese, (2) Taiwan, (3) SE Asians, and (4) W, in that priority order. Agree Without China as a trade partner Japan would have far more head aches than it does now in my opinion. Jay i follow China by reading unfortunately I have not had the experience you have had. I do feel strongly there is reform going on in China. I also feel the potential for growth is huge. It is difficult to change and progress and move beyond old to new of any nation never mind one with deeply embedded thoughts and standards. Our board is a good example since Mr Bush became President, more conversation here had been associated with war than peace. Mr Bush could end being one of the finest Presidents the Nation has ever had, become a true champion of one world yet, embedded thoughts are already creating a road of progress that has many mountains to over come. The experience of the plane to me could be a foolish episode by an over zealous pilot. I visualized first a singular human error and hoped the leaders of nations speaking together would think first as to the non perfect people clause. This to me was logical. Political implications appeared to me as definitely not those of aggression due to the people clause. Hopefully in silence our leaders recognize human error as only from this can blossom something called rational. Now we encounter proper power the kind that shines as it breeds something called stability, respect and understanding in our world. We the people of all nations do not need to be manipulated we all seek truth.

Maybe you can help me out here Jay, with trying to figure out this "face saving" attitude. I have a hard time figuring it out since it strikes me as a rather immature and emotional reaction, especially when they opt to escalate a situation that is obviously the result of an overly aggressive pilot. I can see them trying to blame the US for permitting these flights to take place. That's just a given since they want them to end. But to deliberately attempt to "stir the Sh*t" and create an even greater stink over this by being seen as almost bordering upon hostage taking, is just incredible. After all, they have one of our most sensitive spy planes and all the antenna arrays. Why try and create more of a furor that will lead to greater calls for economic protectionism that will undermine China's $80 Billion trade surplus with the US? And I haven't even become to discuss the increasing sympathy for Taiwan that will result. Are these guys just completely out of control over there in Bejing? Or is there anyone in control at all? This would be different if they had made such a screw up with a small dinky nation with no ability to retaliate (like when Clinton stupidly bombed that aspirin factory in Sudan). But against their largest customer? It just seems these guys are getting ready to hang themselves with the rope they're trying to put around our necks. And I see O'Reilly, who has a greater audience than Larry King, is now calling for a complete boycott of Chinese goods. It seems that Jiang and his military cronies are about to find themselves going from the frying pan and into the fire. Regards, Ron
