Did you ever see "The Ninth Configuration" from the Blatty novel, "Twinkle, Twinkle, Killer Kane".

I'm not sure about that ninth part. I'm not saying that life still does arise from inanimate matter. I am just saying that it not impossible that it still does. It could happen without us noticing if it is rare. Also if some small primitive life did spring up on earth it might be killed by the current more developed life forms before it could get any foot hold.
