China wants to be the host of the 2008 Olympics? LOL! That should go down in history along with the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, presided over by Hitler.

China is a marvelous country with an incredible history and very admirable culture. Too bad it has such a bad government.

Everyone says, oh, the US is oppressive to try to force us to conform to their ways. We aren't forcing anyone to conform, we are just saying, if you want to do business with us, there are rules and we play by the rules. It's the truth - business cannot prosper where there is the expectation that the government will take away all the fruits of their labor. We struggle hard every day here in the US to keep the government from oppressing business - but at least in the US business has rights that can be enforced in a court of law.

A deal is a deal. That's it, in a nutshell. If you make a deal, you stick with it, even if later it doesn't work out for you or even if you change your mind later. A man's word is a man's bond. Pacta sunt servanda.

If the Chinese have figured out how to have entrepeneurship without entrepeneurs being able to rely on the enforceability of contracts, I'd love to know the details.
