That's going to be a real blast to surf. I hope they get some of the good stuff up sooner than ten years.

And I hope some of the liberal arts colleges follows suit. Wouldn't it be fun to look at philsophy courses at Amherst, or religion at Swarthmore?

Heck, I'd audit an astrophysics class or two, or maybe some AI classes, or about a couple of dozen other fields. That'd be so cool. Stuff all that knowledge into your brain for free!! Cool.

Interesting proposal from M.I.T. to open up their college courses via the internet

When I first glanced at the announcement I got so excited, then realized that implementation was a long way away. Too bad, but I think it's wonderful that they're planning to go that way. I will definitely take advantage of it, personally, and I think it's one of the best things that can be done to improve the overall level of education of the public.
