Slider, yes. I think you made an excellent call on when the US press finally acknowledges a US recession. Sometime early this summer, if I recall. Imo the DOW is a busted index as is the S&P 500 and the Russell 2000. Imo this is a relief rally ONLY. 10,000 to 10,500 should see the selling resume.

Calls on drillers are good tactics for an OSX rally. Actually, I think the general market will recover BEFORE patch stocks do, as oil stocks are late cycle entities. It's that 6 month lead/lag effect you remind us of.

Crunch time is coming for those telcom companies that were created only to be sold to bigger fish. Crunch time. Imo the Wall street bartender has shut these guys off. Unlike governments, these guys can't just print more money, neither can other over leveraged private sector areas. They've been shut off. No mo Wall Street liquor to the rescue. No more hair o the dog that bit 'em. How these busted money-holic ruins are dealt with will determine a lot about how long this world wide slowdown lasts. Oh and BTW Japan is nowhere near anything like a real solution to their structural debt problem. It has just temporarily faded from press view.
