CC/Dell
Yes - I write contracts to cover my entire core positions, not only in Dell but also XOM, RDC, MSFT et al.
You can make some tremendous plays short term also.
I did one last week on Dell 03-10.00 leaps/May 27.50 calls.
Worst case this is about 9.5 % cash over cash in 7 weeks (not called)and best case a little over 12% (called out).
Not bad for the time frame and I really don't care if I'm not called and wind up keeping the 03-10s to write calls every month for the next 20 months. I usually get 1.25 or 1.375 for the monthly calls. Great return and in about 9 or 10 months I have nothing in the LEAPS but I still own them (at 10.00 net for Dell) to keep playing them or just sell them outright.
I'm making CCs my major play and I average about 6-10% a month in these current down markets. In runs like the last couple of years, 15-20% per month is very doable.
I've tried to get this board excited about this a couple of times but not much interest came back. I guess a 5-10% per month in a down market just ain't good enough for most folks.
So if you want to discuss this at greater length contact me directly.
