The so called astronomical valuations attached to some tech stocks at their peak was supported by the idea that they had revolutionary technology that would allow them to achieve high profits in their niche for the period of time it took for a competitor to catch up. The Federal Government announced with the Microsoft case that in the future, we will call this monopoly and impose an upper limit on the reward innovation will be allowed to collect. Goodbye profit potential, goodbye valuation.
