Based on technical analysis, there isn't alot to invest in right now....but I don't use technical analysis because it hasn't worked well for me in the past.

I wasn't implying that purchasing on the basis of "being a good company" is the sole reason. But it is one of the primary things Buffett looks for - strength of management. I worked for a company he took over and got very familiar with his methods. He's good, very good.

I agree that now is not a time to jumping in and purchasing alot of companies. The issues you mentioned are purely cyclical items, not indications of longer term problems for GE and ORCL, so they will sort this out either quickly, or not at all (in which case they are doomed). But I suspect that based on their previous scrapes, they will react quickly to improve their situations.
