. I believe they need to whitewash their interest in federal power by pretending to protect the poor. The road to Hell is paved with good intentions. The Dems don't have to have devious intentions or ulterior motives to cause harm to those they purport to help.

You missed the sarcasm that attends most of my posts. You believe that Demos or probably all pols are motivated by the desire for power, but that can't be the case. Power to do what? Power to do good. That's the only motivation and has been for 100 years. Pols have this belief that they can do good to the world, and that pays them off psychologically in ways far greater than any other payoff. It's always the motive behind all the evil in the world. Seek to do good, and you will do evil. Seek to be good and you will do good. When you comprehend that, you will have learned. Demos don't care about poor or anything else. They have one obsession and it's the war on wealth. This is associated with the result that if they smash the rich it benefits the poor and this is justified because it is good. The bottom line though is doing good, and thus doing evil. They haven't done anything constructive for the nation in 40 years.
