I don't fly large aircraft, but I doubt if the lack of flaps would be that big an issue. Planes can and do land without flaps. It just takes more runway. On the ocean you have all the "runway" you need. I believe the more important issues are touching down under control, getting out of the aircraft, and surviving while awaiting rescue.
