There was a good PBS show on synthetic diamonds from the crude indutrial stuff produced by GE up to the near gem quality diamonds produced by the Russians. They are still some small telltale traces which give away the fact that it is synthetic, but it is very good. DeBeers is apparently doing microscopic laser etching of their logo on their diamonds and I understand Ekati (Canada) may also doing it.

Meanwhile, I will see if I can find anything more on the topic and post a URL, if possible.

No reason to be concerned. The cost is huge, the outcome is mostly industrial grade.BTW, who wants gold or diamonds?
CB's will have to hire some dirty, old relics to remove this garbage from the vaults. Black future for me.
