Vincennes ... protect US flagged ships from Iranian gunboats ...(an act of war)>> My point way back was the world is a connected whole, and the universe is a contiuum, each incident is part of a broader fabric of events that happens or could happen, all for a reason, including why gun boats are making suicide attacks on US flagged anything. Trade is a blunt weapon. The widgets you refer to are only that, but critical to some companies' competitiveness - for example, China is one of the largest supplier of semi-finished industrial cutting blades via Kingenberg of Germany to the world and to the US - no, trade is a blunt weapon. I have already said, the issue of the E3 and apologies are simply not important and will no doubt be worked out, hopefully soon, leaving the truly important issues still to be resolved, but only through the passing of time. The various interest groups in the US will work to support various initiatives, regardless of what China does or does not do, and so Bill O'Reilly, along with Hollywood stars, along with the trade unions, along with whomever, will do what they must do. The effectiveness with which they do their initiatives will depend on what China does. China's leadership is actually quite pigheaded about PR aspects of what they do, and how they do, but it takes old folks a bit of learning before they get it. I actually have said same to at least one ex-foreign minister, Huang Hua, a few years back and he agreed at the time, because it is true. Chugs, Jay
