Thursday's Market: Dow and Nasdaq Rocket Higher but Doubts Remain While today's gains were inspiring, investors are looking for positive signs from other high-profile companies about earnings. No doubt, Dell's reaffirmation was comforting. But the company has slashed first-quarter targets twice, and it didn't give any guidance about the rest of the year. In other words, the announcement doesn't really tell people much about earnings visibility in general, which is what Wall Street really needs. thestreet.com
