I wish that whoever reports on Niles's call on the semis today would also find space to report that around June of last year he was recommending accumulating the semis because "you'd really want to own them come fall" of 2000 (that's a paraphrase). I heard him in an ON-24 interview and the smugness of his tone back then, the certainty of it, makes me sick now and also bears keeping in mind. Anybody following his advice has a chance of executing the investing double-whammy--buying high and selling low. The thing that kills me is, he may be right about the bad times continuing for awhile, but it galls me that he can make his calls with impunity, with no sense of accountability from the financial press.

Andy

Just for fun, I am keeping track of your choices. Till date, 6 of your picks are up (with SEBL up the most -- 29.5%) and 6 are down (with TMTA down the most -- minus 79.1%). Your overall portfolio (assuming equal dollar amounts in each stock) is down 7.2%. In the same time-frame, the total stock market is up about 11%.

Let's see how things go as time passes.
