Yes, I see that. Ascending triangles are bullish, but they don't always break out as expected. They are more likely to break out in the up direction at the top of a trend...this one is a consolidation at the lows of a major trend and thus has a higher degree of failure. You may have noticed that before the DOW broke 10,850, it was in a huge ascending triangle pattern spanning months with flatline resistance at 11,000. The pattern failed even here at the top.
