most absurd shambles I will be involved with in my life

Sounds like a real learning experience... may save you some $$$ in the future.

Learning experience for me, too. Thought I was safer in LOR, that while BLS was inept in marketing, surely he knew how to run a satellite biz. WRONGO ALR!

<OT> Maurice: I picked up some IDCC (10K) the other day at 8 7/8.. The agreement with IFX and Matsushita on 3G IPR for W-CDMA kind of caught my attention..

And I carried on some lengthy conversations with several of the QCiBR regulars in PM Mode.. And want your opinion..

Number One: Matsushita signed a "multi-million dollar" royalty bearing license with Matsushita (which is getting ready to actually ship (In theory) W-CDMA UT to DoCoMo.. The day before that, IDCC signed a agreement with Infineon..

So that pretty much tells us that IDCC IPR IS required for W-CDMA (DoCoMo Version 1.0)..

Now IJ has stated several times that QCOM does not require additional IPR from IDC for W-CDMA

However, if that were true.. Then Matsushita would not have needed the IDC license.. Because they would have had access to these IPR via their QCOM license..

Then someone noted that maybe IDC's W-CDMA centric IPR is licensed to QCOM, but is not pass-thru as most of IDC IPR is for QCOM.. Which I stated may be a possibility.. However, Since the license agreement with IDC happended many moons ago, before W-CDMA was announced.. Then how could that be?

So that leads me to conclude that either QCOM has signed a new license agreement in the last year with IDC for the necessary W-CDMA centric IPR, but is not allowed to "pass-thru" this IPR to it's licensee's.. Which neither company announced a Press Release about such an agreement..

Or, QCOM does not have access to the necessary IDC IPR for W-CDMA and will require a new license from IDC for such IPR..

In a market that shows a Who's Who of Insider Selling.. Including QCOM I might add... IDCC Insiders are actually BUYING!!

Maurice:

Glad you're home safely. You're still missing nothing in the way of California weather. Did you get over to see Hoover dam on your Las Vegas excursion? A socialist project that came in under budget and on time, I think. Go figure.

It's been tough watching this thing unfold. Wish they'd just put a spike in it. Instead, seems they're content to set the blade in just a couple of inches and drag the barely breathing corpse across it inch by agonizing inch.

I've been impressed with he restraint shown by most of the nay sayers. I would humbly suggest to Geoff that it may be time to change the moniker from "dearly beloved" to "nearly departed," but his call so his privilege.

Funny, another of my long shots (in addition to G*) just got a de-listing notice, and announced they were reducing to skeleton crew (4 - down form 80 or so). Should have sold that one when it changed its symbol from IVDO to BRST - yea, that was the symbol. Oh well, omen layered upon reality and still I held. What a year ... and it's just started.

Please keep posting. After reading your many colorful analyses, I don't want to miss the post mortems. Interesting times ahead. BTW, still waiting for pcstel's PM advising when to re-enter G* <g>
