There are plenty of ways to filet a pike. Your's is as good as any. A knife that will feel bones helps.

I'd rather catch walleye because of the slime and cleaning factors but done right the pike are a little milder. I've heard muskies are better eating than either pike or walleyes but I'd never want to get caught taking one home to eat. A 52 incher was caught in a local lake this spring.
