K., Caxton, today's PR concerning the Ricoh alliance seems significant, for several reasons: The value and adaptability of Ricochet2 was recognized by a major player; Ricoh is 'investing' in MCOM's network infrastructure whether Ricoh or individual digital camera purchasers pay for the modem and/or subscribe for monthly usage, thus increasing MCOM's cash flow and credit worthiness. More important, it seems to me, it may be viewed as a harbinger of long awaited tidings, for this reason: Although we do not know much about the terms of the agreement, it seems doubtful Ricoh would make this financial commitment to incorporate Ricochet2 in the camera, unless it was convinced that MCOM has a viable future...meaning, inter alia, MCOM established, to Ricoh's satisfaction, it will succeed in obtaining the indispensable financing to roll out the network in all intended marketplaces in the U.S. This is the sanguine view, as seen through rose colored glasses, albeit the lenses were savaged by the DotComBomb.

WIRELESS WEBCONNECT! INC - Ricochet WebConnect! from Wireless WebConnect! - Featured by Mr. Gadget on CNBC
New York, New York, Apr 25, 2001 (Market News Publishing via COMTEX) -- "This is a Terrific Way to Go," proclaims Kruschen.

Following on the heels of the highly favorable review by the ultimate new-technology consumer "Mr. Gadget(R)," Steve Kruschen, Wireless WebConnect!, Inc. reiterated the value of its Ricochet(R) WebConnect! service as a DSL replacement technology. Kruschen featured Ricochet WebConnect! service and the Merlin(R) for Ricochet Type II internal PC modem card manufactured by Novatel Wireless, Inc. (NASD: NVTL chart, msgs) on the April 6th edition of CNBC's Power Lunch.

Ricochet WebConnect!, the co-branded service offering of Metricom's (NASDAQ: MCOM chart, msgs) Ricochet 128 kbps wireless mobile access, provides highest-speed mobile wireless access to corporate networks and the entire Internet, eliminating the frustrations of wires, dropped connections and roaming fees. At actual end-user speeds of 128 kbps, Ricochet WebConnect! gives mobile professionals secure, always-on access to complete information wherever and whenever they need it.

Kruschen stated that Ricochet WebConnect! is a great way to go and a good choice for consumers seeking high-speed Internet access in the 13 cities in which it is available. When queried about Ricochet versus DSL, Kruschen said: "DSL, a lot of those companies are dropping off and leaving their customers in a lurch. You can go to Wireless WebConnect! and Ricochet, and you get a wireless modem, 128 kbps--normal dialup is 56 kpbs--this is two times that. This is ISDN speed, not quite DSL, but for less than $70 per month on a year's contract, you can get this kind of performance, this kind of service."

"We're delighted to have such a favorable review of our service from one of the leading consumer technology authorities in the U.S.," said G. T. Finn, president, Wireless WebConnect! "Steve hit the nail on the head when he stated that Ricochet WebConnect! can solve the DSL blues and make you mobile at the same time, a valuable benefit for everyone."

Wireless WebConnect! establishes local sales offices to support call center and other marketing activities in each city where Ricochet service is available. Currently, 128 kbps Ricochet service is active in 13 cities nationwide.

"Customers like access to a real, live person and not just a call center or web site," commented Finn. "We believe in providing customers with the resources that work best for them--whether it is a call center, website or a real person who can provide instantaneous response."

"This is a terrific way to go," continued Kruschen. "Their biggest problem is that no one knows about it. I'm using it, traveling all over the country. It's terrific. You have no compromise now."

Wireless WebConnect! offers four different modems that access the Ricochet network: two external modems (models GS and GT) and two internal modem cards. Modem cards are the Merlin for Ricochet(TM) by Novatel Wireless, Inc. and the Sierra AirCard 400(TM) by Sierra Wireless, Inc. Service and modems are compatible with a variety of desktops, laptops and handheld devices, and support the Microsoft Windows(R), Pocket PC(R), and Macintosh operating systems.
