<<The US government mitigates, or damps down, the consequences of the movements of the invisible hand.>> Well, OK then!<G> As long as said "mitigation" (and its attendent expenses, calculated in a realistic and actuarial sound manner) is understood to be possible by those proposing and voting on the program at the outset...I really hate bailouts or open-ended programs; in our system they are a license for Congress to steal (either through higher taxes or inflation, choose your poison).
