I'm saying if we want growth in the US ( making room for the next gen) present laws will have to change.

Sig, You made a point I've been pondering for some time now. Several months ago, I ordered a subscription to an economic forcasting newsletter Greg has been using for years now. (BopLi, if you have the link and care to post it, I'd reiterate your rec on these reports FWIW)
Anyways, one of the things I recieved in my initial subscrition was a book of charts of all sorts, economic stats. Oneof the most interesting I saw was how in the last 8 yrs, while Federal spending has been declining, local spending, (therefore taxation and intrusion) has SKYROCKETED!

Has anyone watched any City employees doing anything lately? A few weeks ago, a road crew came out to do repair work on the city street and I guarantee, it took 6 guys working 6 days to do what you, me, Greg and Jim Willie, could have done in 4 and for thousands less $$. What's the point? The TOTAL tax burden on US capital (privately earned income) has never been higher and is feeding the least efficient engine know to man, the public sector, instead of flowing to the private sector where capital will find it's highest and best use. I have a neighbor, retired from the city public works dept, recieves $60,000 yr. pension at age 50. So the City nickel and dimes it's citizens 3 ways to Sunday so he can kick back in comfort. (Parking at city beaches is .25$/ 10 minutes)

I have to pay for 2 educations for my kids, the one, through my taxes, the public school system offers which ain't worth a damn and I don't use, and the $6,500/ yr private one that they deserve.

These squandered dollars are deeply entrenched and put a drag on the economy. We have a capitalist system being run in an ever increasingly socialist manner. Somethings gotta give. I fear the TOTAL tax burden on future generations we're putting in place now, will have a huge negative effect on capitalism in the future.

Downtrend indeed, Komrade.
