I know there's not enough Section 8 housing to keep up with the demand. I've had clients who lived in Section 8 housing, and clients who lived in homeless shelters. I've handled a ton of pro bono for Legal Aid.

I also know poor people who have bought houses with low down payments, and know what a struggle it can be for them to keep the houses. If they lose their jobs then their income level changes, you know.

The point I was trying to make is that the government will be very reluctant to evict them if they default on their loans for the very reasons you point out.
