Sly,

It doesn't matter who got elected (Bush or Gore), We would be headed into a recession either way. Neither one could have prevented the mess Clinton left.

We are not in recession. Unemployment is lower now than at any other time in modern history. Bush has been talking down the economy to get his tax cut passed, and now he is going to claim that he fixed the unbroken. Sounds like you are going to fall for the big lie, too.

The first part of your statement is true. The second part to the extent it implies that Clinton is responsible for the current situation is not. It is not within the power of the government to abolish the business cycle. They may extend or delay but sooner or later the day of reckoning comes. I do not think that Clinton had much to do with the prosperity and accordingly can't fault him for the coming economic bad times, which I hope don't come - but I think I am right about this.
