I think Ish and I are perhaps from different generations but from the same world. I do ice fish and actually do quite a lot of ice fishing by Alma WI which is right across the river from Wabasha where Grumpy was filmed. I've never looked that close but perhaps I was in the movie:)

Talking of storms we lost power at about 10 this morning and didn't get it back until 6 tonight. Had to go over to my mom's to watch the Masters. 50 mph winds and trees down all over. We have more the our share of storms and have had one of the worst tornadoes in my area albeit before I was born. This is kind of an interesting couple of sites to me because I know or knew all of these people:
usgennet.org
wx-fx.com ( in this one the interview with Doc Nueman is cool because he is my neighbor and I talk to him daily)

Bizarre storms. We had a tornado baby in town. He was ripped from his crib and presumed dead. One day after the storm when all were cleaning up someone heard a baby crying in the field. They walked out to find Chris totally unhurt crying because he was hungry. 1/2 mile from his house which was gone! I get coffee from him every morning at the express mart.

My grandpa was searching through rubble looking for Mrs. Johnson when he heard a voice from above him saying Earl. He looked up to see her naked in the tree which was unharmed 5' from the house which was gone. She asked him to find her some clothes:) She was asleep in her bed on the second floor and didn't know how she had even come to be in the tree!

But my all time favorite is the house I bought in town after we returned from the navy. Only older house on the block next to the same Mrs. Johnson. She and I were having coffee one day when I asked how come my house was the only old house left on that end of town. She told me it was because God saved the house. I said why do you say that. She said everyone that could left for their basement but her neighbor Greta Anderson. She was in a wheel chair and couldn't make it down the stairs. She sat in her living room with her bible and watched the tornado hit while she prayed.

That may sound hokey but if you ever come through here and let me do a barby for you and your's, I will take you to town and show you our old house. It was the only thing left standing for almost a 1/2 mile swath.
