If they ever bothered to check all the guys running everything out there are from NY/BRONX/BROOKLYN anyway. Funny you should say that. Back when I lived in California I had a third generation Californian as a roommate. She told me that if a business out there was hiring and they had a choice between an Easterner and a Californian for the job that they would decide in favor of the person from the east. The reason she gave me was that because people from the east had the reputation as being "work oriented" and Californians had the reputation as being "lifestyle oriented" so they figured they could get more work out of the person from the east coast. She seemed to think the constant influx of easterners were ruining it for people like her, although she did tell me she thought she was a New Yorker in a past life. cartoonbank.com
