OK, OK, but 10% gain over ten years, and I don't mean 10% a year, isn't much of a gain and isn't a boom.-g-

I know what you mean, you get the mortgage tax deduction so even though you're paying the bank you're getting some back, and the real cost is the difference between renting and owning. Sometimes it's cheaper to rent, and put the money you would have used for the house into another investment.
