I suspect that's what 'Je me souviens' does mean to most, without the rest of the quote. It has a pretty defiant ring to it.

Hardly ever not been. I was born and raised there. And to be honest, I identify more with the white and blue than the white and red. But I think people are easily complex enough to identify with both, and many other things, if politicians would stop fanning the flames of nationalism.
