I rode into work in a carpool once years ago with an engineer from PG&E who couldn't stop ranting about the people opposed to nuclear power, and about how safe Diablo Canyon was even so near the San Andreas fault. Then I asked him about decommissioning costs, and he changed the subject and refused to answer. That was before Chernobyl.

In general, I find all the California bashing on SI quite amusing and insipid. Having done my time living in most other parts of the country and visiting the rest, I waste little time thinking about what I'm not missing. We like it when they talk this way - the last thing we need is more flatlanders who actually want to move here !
