-OT- Unique Visitors There are some ISPs that use Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, such as AOL and cable modem providers, which use different IPs for every file requested, making one visitor look like many. In this case, a single IP address does not indicate a unique visitor

Now I'm confused. Most dialups use DHCP to assign IP's, and as far as I know, short of looking for a cookie there is no way to tell if the user has been there previously or not. So does that mean that there is a way of figuring out unique visitors who are using DHCP from their IP addresses? Also, is the statement that DHCP assigns a new IP for every file requested correct? I was under the impression that DHCP assigns one IP at the time the connection is made and that IP is good until the connection is dropped.
