Dear J_F, CO2 in the process of dissolving does not really react chemically with the water. All gases dissolve to some extent in water. The fizz as you call it is occur because the release of pressure creates what is called super saturation and because of molecular motion the CO2 comes out of the water. If one examines closely a bottle or glass with soda or beer one sees in many cases fine lines of bubble coming from one point or points in the container. This is the point of an imperfection in the surface of the container. Mechanically agitating a super-saturated solution causes the separation.

The reason nitrogen is not used is because the pressure required to dissolve the same amount of nitrogen as carbon dioxide would create some really explosive bottles

Does nitrogen dissolve in water. Have you ever heard of the bends. Oh did mention I used to scuba dive.

Dear J_F, you have demonstrated to all you don't know any chemistry. If you wish to argue this point, well I don't consider 1% as a passing grade. So J_F, I suspect you have the typical reading comprehension deficit disorder that is common to many of the vacant liberal minds that post here.
This is the sublime truth.

That being the case you just are not equipped to understand that I answered dels question on who is paying for what orginally and then again.

As to being and engineer, I never sail under false colors. And are all of my post signed with my moniker. tosiwmee

So J_F, I don't know what you do. But based on what you have shown me that you know, I would never hire you to be an enginear no matter how good your spelling was. You see engineering is about thinking.
