So Wall Street finally decided that it's time to kill the amateurish shorts, who were likely frustrated longs who just found out that it's possible to make $$$ when the market going down in the last several weeks. By killing these shorts, Wall Street effectively eliminated a significant portion of investors that should add fuels when the market finally rallies.

Very interesting comment. Something to keep in mind. Not sure they lost much money by going short recently. The Naz was still down on the week.

Another possibility is paying taxes by big investors who made a ton of cash in short funds. These funds do a lot more trading than mutual funds. There may be selling in these as well to raise cash for tax payments. It is possible that retirement funds are in mutual funds while free cash has been allocated to short funds also. To pay for taxes, I still think we will see selling of bear funds. People are less and less likely to keep money in such funds as the market goes down and may pull out as soon as they "sense" a bottom forming.

This market is really tough; this sector is probably the worst (optical). Optical and telecom stocks may be the last ones to make a move. Storage, software is where I want to be.
