The discussion was on CO2 dissolving. Only about 1% of the dissolved CO2 exists as H2CO3. Carbonic acid is a weak acid which dissociates in two steps. H2CO3 H+ + HCO3¯ Ka1 = 4.2 × 10¯ 7 HCO3¯ H+ + CO32 ¯ Ka2 = 4.8 × 10¯11 Some scum in the context of the discussion 1% does not exist as a factor in the process under discussion. You see a village idiot can see the difference in importance between that which is 99% and that which is 1%. Obviously a vacant liberal mind is not up to that task.
