this does not answer your question directly, but i'm doing the best i can. looking at w98, which you say will not boot since the master boot repair.... i suggest that you run your nav rescue disks. they are designed for just this sort of problem

maybe that will change your situation

also, what about your win2000pro emergency repair disk? did you create it? it's for recovering a system that won't load win2000.

and the (4) win2000pro setup disks, of which the first disk is the boot disk?

these setup and boot disks can be made from the win2000 cd.

the emergency repair disk has to be created from within win2000.
