Dave,

I'll wager I've walked more wilderness than you

Probably not. I spent the summers of 1980 and 1981 working as a wilderness ranger in the Cibola and Santa Fe National Forests.

Oil development is much more than drilling a well. The transport of the oil is very disruptive, and the actual drilling process is very messy, and frequently pollutes the water table.

Do you see my point?

Not really. I fly over the arctic all the time, and it gives me a very good feeling to see that little unspoiled bit of land up there. It makes me feel like there is still something wild out there, (besides the pub in Clifton at closing time.)
