Mike, yes the press/media enabled the financial industry to spread their propaganda on an unprecedented scale and the public bought it now we must endure TL & EV. In the late 20s studies came out extolling the concept of buy and hold for the long term. In 1928 " Common Stocks as Long Term Investments" by Edgar Lawrence Smith was quite popular. The stock indices are misleading -they have a survivor bias in that weak issues are dumped and stronger ones added. Some high tech and dot.con companies will simply disappear- the ultimate tough love -g-. Mike
