SCUMbria - re: "Makes me wonder how Intel ever managed to get the Pentium III chosen for Microsoft's ill-fated X-Box."

Intel winning that contract still gives you AMDroids constant indigestion !!

What a hoot !!

Next, I'll bet you droids say AMD had the inside track on getting the original IBM PC contract - and Intel cheated them out of it !!

Scumbria, as an avid gamer, I still think X-Box will have a hard time competing against Sony and Nintendo. On the other hand, with Sega dropping out of the console market (about time, I reckon), maybe X-Box does have a good chance of winning a niche market.

Funny how all of the AMDroids were getting on my case for holding this view, until it was revealed that Microsoft was going with Intel and not with AMD for X-Box. Then all of a sudden, the AMDroids said, "Aw, who needed that low-margin market anyway?" I could dig up posts showing all of this, but it's not like I have as much spare time as you do these days.
