Don't they meet every Monday?
I don't think we will see an intermeeting cut; Greenspan has been very vocal about that. And if by some odd chance they do, IMO, it won't happen before the 17th of April.

What is so special about April 17?

Does anyone remember what day of the week it was on their last intermeeting cut in January.

If they cut intermeeting it would have to be more than 25bps. There is really no point about doing such a cut before the next scheduled meeting in May unless the intermeeting cut was material..that is
..50 or 75bps.

It seems Greenspan has one view of the economy while the investers have totally the opposite. Investors think things are worse while the FED members seem to hint at some second half recovery. If the FED changes its mind and comes to terms with reality, we could get a big cut. However, I am not too convinced that they will see reality...just hope they do. The PEs in stocks have to be attractive relative to money market fund rates before more people decide to jump back into the markets.....a 50bp cut translates into a 10% increase in PEs (50 divided by 500). I am refering to the average stock in the S and P 500. In addition, you need a reallocation of funds in balanced mutual funds to more stocks and the only way to do that is if stocks become relatively a better value. (again, not necessarily tech stocks but stocks in general)

This tidbit is interesting:
"2. Review and determination by the Board of Governors of the rates of discount to be charged
by Federal Reserve Banks. "

Is this referring to the discount rate?
