>>Streaming audio and video require
broadband connections to the Web. About 6 million Americans
have such connections today, and their ranks are growing fast.<<
Mark, this number has grown very quickly already.
I believe only 18 months or so ago, it was less than half that.

D,

The current rollout of "broadband" is not really broadband in my opinion. I see most of the DSL connections at 1 mbps downstream and some at 1.5 mbps. Most of the cable firms are providing 1 mbps to 1.5 mbps. It would seem to have real broadband with streaming audio/video that fills the screen, 10 mbps are needed.

Let's look at higher resolution digital photography. The recent digital camera I bought has a 64 MB compact flash card. A few pictures are taken and now to transmit them via the web, it still takes a fair amount of time at 1 mbps.

Nah..broaddband has not even begun.

Yahoo results won't surprise anyone
At least they shouldn't after 2 warnings

CHICAGO (CBS.MW) - Yahoo is the envy of every portal and
portal-wannabe, with a coveted 185-plus million users worldwide. But
its sales are dwindling quickly, it has no profits and it can't even craft
a guess on financial results for the rest of the year.

Heck, it doesn't even have a chief executive.
