Thanks Dave, I do have a lot fun with my tech toys. But today with linux the cost is minimal. The latest versions of XFree86 the Xserver foundation of whatever gui or window manager you decide to use (I'm an fvwm person) has support for multi-display. At linux world watman.com
This stereo cross pair is a tri display with all free, linux software. Video cards that can be used for multidisplay can be found for less than 50.

I use a commercial Xserver, xig, I feel all things considered it worth the 200 bucks.
But a linux machine is a potent tool.
